Hello all!!
We (wife and i) recently purchased a 2002 V5 Bora with 75000kms on the clock. Its dark blue with beige leather interior.
Just did a 950km trip over the easter weekend from Melbourne to Edenhope and back (on the S.A/Vic border) and it didnt miss a single beat.
My other car is a 1983 ford fairmont and i am a member at xfalcons.com which i have been using as my daily driver for the last 6 years.
I cant say i know much about VWs, but i guess ill learn what i need to know!
See you around!
Cheers,
Andrew

Welcome to the family Andrew...
Nice cards the Bora, I think they are a car that should have sold more here....
Any plans to do any modifications, or just keep it stock?
Welcome Andrew
Cool Bora V5![]()

Thanks for the welcomes!!
Yeah we really liked it when we saw it! It almost has everything!!
Probably going to keep it stock for now, its not necessarily 'my' car if you know what i mean lol...window tint to start then maybe some bigger rims to fill in the gaps...after we have had it for a while though who knows!
I filled up once the light came on and the odo was at 1035 kms from 2 tanks of fuel...i think one tank was 91 and the other tank was 95 premium....cant remember exactly but its not bad i dont think...melbourne to ballarat is kind of hilly so it used a bit there, probably sat between 10-13L/100kms on cruise control but from ballarat to edenhope it was more like 7-9L/100kms!
Thats pretty decent from a 5 cylinder I reckon![]()

Sorry its taken me a while to reply, ive been working on night shift and been pretty busy!!
And yeah i agree with you ben, considering my other car is an Inline 6 on LPG, and ive never really known anyone else to have a v5 so havent been able to compare and im glad to hear you say that!! lol
We have been filling with 98 premium and we are still getting around 450kms of city driving per tank....I filled up with safeway 'vortex' premium and only got about 370kms to the tank, thats probably the lowest we have had so far and i wont be going to that particular safeway petrol again, i had a similar thing happen with the gas and lower than average from that particular servo too....i guess they all can vary sometimes!
Yeah not a fan of Woolies/Safeway Petrol to, I like Shell or BP for 98 PULP.

if you think your car is drinking more than it should, you should take it to get a wheel alignment, pump your tyres up. These things also suffer from faulty coolant temp sender and mass air flow meters, which can contribute to poor economy.
Go APR!!
A bit of an update...(i havent been on here for ages!!)...cutting a long story short we had an old guy reverse into us in the emergency lane on the eastern freeway causing about $7k front end damage....was low impact hit, the airbags didnt go off or anything and neither of us were injured!.....we got it back all fixed and looking like new again!! mind you i dont know if i would go back to the same panel shop again....just too many 'admin' issues rather than any dodgey work and they left the interior a bit dirty so we had to wait almost an hour for them to clean it!...ill try and get some before and after shots at some point!
