I would suggest getting your car to a specialist as soon as possible.
I only know of one on the Northern Beaches, but I'm sure somebody will pipe up with one in your area.
hey guys i recently got this v6 passat

any cheap vw mechenics around syd west, liverpool area
any help will be great thanks guys
well thanks for the info guys, it is a v6 petrol not diesel.
well the car died on me last night, just does not kick over,
i drove it last night with the kocking noise, the noise came and went
wasnt constant, and the battery light comes on so does the oil light.
there is a slight oil leak, but nothing major. the car started making the knocking noise after a friend of mine revved the sh*t out of it cos it wasnt kicking over and after that started making that noise.
now i have to tow the car back to my place, and get a mechenic to check it out. how do i go with getting parts and vw passat things for mechenic?
the less it cost the better, as im on a tight budget.
thanks guys
also water pump was changed in feb 09 thats the only recipt i got
and engine brackets etc
no service history

As Stu said, get it to a VW specialist - too hard for an internet diagnosis this one.....
any reccomendations for mechenics around syd west?
Muller & Muller in Lakemba 0297591818 - but I think they will be closed for Christmas like most workshops....
Good luck!
Wouldnt be suprised if it was the oil pickup in the " oil sump " seen similiar problems with 3b passats, would explain the nocking noise because the engine would have been running dry for a short time before any great level of oil was provided for lubrication, also would explain why you now cant start the vehicle due to if the oil pick up has failed ( most likely clogged up with sludge ) there would be no oil pressure hense no start....
