I'm new to this part of the forum. I just bought a 66 Standard Beetle that I know nothing about. It has a knob located on the right hand side of the tunnel just next to the gear lever. Does anybody know what it's for?

Heater
that operates two cables that go to the back of the car & open the flaps from the heater box to allow the hot air to travel forwards!
Not many beetles still have them hooked up these days.
Thanks Aussie Volks Guy. I'm finding this beetle interesting. I just discovered a tap that opens a reserve fuel tank when it runs out because there is no fuel gauge. Very querky.
What about parts in Adelaide. Volksfactory have been good but I want to perhaps do a few mods (i.e. suspension, 12v conversion) without taking too much away from the beetle character. Can anybody point me in the right direction or perhaps interstate traders on the net.
Cheers, Slo.
Paul at Volksfactory would do all the mentioned above (or have pointers who would).

Yeah. They've been servicing my T4 for a couple of years now and have done a good job, and they seem to have a genuine interest in the beetle, I get the impression that they want me to keep it stock which is great, although I do want it a bit nicer to drive and maybe a bit less "Grandma".
You can only ask; your paying after all![]()
