Post 2010 Volkswagen Jetta Range Launches In Australia With New Engines

THE 2010 VOLKSWAGEN Jetta V update arrives in showrooms today, featuring new petrol and diesel engine options.

The range starts with the 1.6 litre 77TDI diesel engine (launched with the Golf VI in August), producing 77kW, 250Nm of torque and featuring a fuel consumption figure of 4.9 l/100km.

The 1.6 77TDI is available with a five-speed manual transmission, or the new seven-speed DSG.

The second new diesel engine is the 2.0 litre 125TDI, with 125kW, 350Nm of torque and a fuel economy rating of 5.9 l/100km.

Volkswagen claims the 125TDI Jetta will reach 100km/h in 8.5 seconds with the six-speed DSG - the only transmission offered with the 2.0 litre 125TDI engine.

The previous 2.0 litre 103TDI remains on the 2010 engine list, using 6.0 litres of fuel per 100km and producing 103kW and 320Nm of torque.

The 103TDI is available with a six-speed DSG transmission only.

Petrol engines include the 2.0 litre TSI, developing 147kW and consuming 7.8 litres per 100km. The 147TSI is offered with the six-speed DSG transmission as standard.

The 1.4 litre 118TSI develops 118kW and 240Nm of torque, with a fuel economy rating of 6.6 l/100km.

The 118TSI is available with either Volkswagen’s new seven-speed DSG, or a six-speed manual transmission.

New features for 2010 include parking distance sensors in the front and rear, and the Optical Parking System as standard across the range.

New trim choices have been added, along with the Golf VI’s steering wheel and an updated instrument cluster.

TMR’s Tim O’Brien is at the launch of the 2010 Jetta today. Stay tuned for our review of the updated Jetta.
