1999 Passat 1.8T - Petrol Tank Button

I have an issue with the petrol button thats it opens. It seems to not open all the time. and when it does i have to push the button very very hard.

What the hell can i do? lol. Atm im just leavin it open but people tend to see it and close it when im parked somewhere and then when i come to the station i spend 10 mins just trying to open the damn thing!!!!

Anything that could fix it?

Pull the switch out & carefully clean it inside - otherwise price up a new switch from VW - should not cost a great deal

You mean the switch at the back that triggers the opening. I have have pulled that out, im going to try open it now. Well see how it goes.

If not do you know how much they are from vw?

How do you open this thing up? There two clips on each and every side
