Default Tramlining & Excessive Torque Steer.

    Hoyhoy.

To start with having done a few mods to the Pog. giving it some performance & then along with tracking & driving a bit hard at times the problem has risen, being excessive torque steer & tram-lining coming into play. So me started looking & found sub-frame movement, look what me found. (The shiny section around the bolt head is from the bolt moving which is one of two each side holding the sub-frame to the chassis via what I call hangers.)

The reason being these bolts holding the sub-frame are 12mm & go into 18mm holes.

    Hoyhoy.

So me had a chat with a engineer here on the Gold Coast & left it with him, here's what he came up with.

Being adjustable is another big plus.
First trial bought tears to my eyes, massive improvement, no more tramling & torque steer has been reduced by masses.
I just can't say enough in words on how good it feels, with the fair amount of HP that the Little Blue Girl has now, Its the nicest thing that I have owned & just love to take her out.
I wonder many people have or are trying to sell their Pog's because of this reason.

    Hoyhoy.

That could be happening down the track a bit.
I'm also realising now that the major improvement with my Pog was because the sub-frame was moving, so if your sub-frame isn't moving there won't be as much difference.

I have seen the mod in the flesh - an excellent case of engineering.

    Hoyhoy.

For any one interested, I now some kits made up to do this mod.
Now the main reason I went for this was because there was movement between the subframe & the chassis, now if you don't have movement there it might not make any difference in doing this mod.
I do know it made a lot of difference to my Little Blue Girl.
It can take a bit of fiddleing to fit these, but I made a mark on mine as to where they were & which hole they came from, I can remove the main crossmember out & put it back as it was.
Another problem can be the holes in the subframe, if you have movement, it can damage the 18mm holes like mine did, for this you'll have to burrow a reamer, because you don't want to bash these sleeves in, you must be able to turn them for ajusting.
They have been designed for the Polos, but might fit others.(Sleeves = 18mm dia. with a 12mm hole & the length = 50mm plus the collar.)

This is the kit below that I have available, including a bent spanner to make it easier to ajust.
    Have about 20 sets available

    Price = $95.00 Plus postage.
I do have PayPal if needed.

    Hoyhoy.

Heres another little trick I came up with.
I found the rear control arm bushes have to be located spot on to help reduce movement, so I went one further & bolted the rear bush (custom made 95 enduro) compliments from FULCRUM in Brissy, may sound strange but thats me, fussy.

seen these in the flesh, fine engineering & well worth it. & much cheaper than upgrading the car to a Golf
