Broken bonnet release on 97 Golf CL

Hi the bonnet on my 97 golf cl will not open the release level has no tension on it. Do any of you guys know if this is an easy fix the auto club said only the dealer service could fix it?

Sounds like the bonnet cable has snapped from the pull handle.

See if you can see a loose wire near the pull handle and pull that with vice grips etc to get access to the bonnet.

For replacement goto a trusted garage or VW specialist to get it replaced.
