T4 wheels

Hey Everyone

I'm a newbie. Has anyone fitted 17 inch wheels or larger to a lowered t4? Where do I get some load rated wheels that will fit inside the front wheel arches?

It has been done - now from memory it is ~ 600kg's per wheel? - We actually fitted GTI 17" wheels with approved extensions to our lowered T4 with good results & with the correct load rated tyres to match the wheels, it handled well.

How do you tell what the load rating is of wheels? I've got 04 passat wheels with proper load rated tyres but have been told that the wheels are probably not the correct load rating; therefore probably void my insurance cover in the event of an accident. Besides all that, with 225s on the front, the wheel arches are tearing the shoulder off the tyre and it's not even that low. But gee! It looks good. I just looked at your photo and your tyres look a fair bit smaller than the ones I was sold. 225/55/17 load rated 101w. Perhaps I can go a bit smaller.

Generally it's stamped into the back of the casting - certainly is for most of the German approved wheels we have!
