Buying a 2004 R32

[TRI-R32]

Hi all, I am looking at selling or swapping my Toyota corolla sportivo and buy a 2004 R32. My plan is to buy in 6months so wanted to see how much i will be looking at in terms of price, also some info on the car
I don't know a whole lot about them so any info you can give would be a great help such
Running costs
servicing
things to look out for
stats on the car
how rare this car is etc

I can help you with the rarity thing - there were 200 originally delivered!

From what I understand (working with our service agents) - they are pretty trouble free if serviced regularly!

Brake replacements (disc rotors) can be expensive.

Always look at the service history, and get it independently inspected before purchase!

re. independent inspections - is NRMA the way to go?

I'm considering a Mk V TDI, probably a '06 Jetta or Golf TDI w. DSG.
As you can read above, I'm in Sydney.

Posting it here as the issues are likely common (except the any TDI issues) to all Mk5s... plus a Jetta resembles the R32 from the front.

Alternatively, has anyone taken a qualified, patient and friendly mechanic along to see a few cars on one big trip?

Personally always best to use a VW expert - they know where the exact problem areas are & what wears out. European Autotech in Mona Vale would be worth a try!
