O.M.G that is very poor customer service indeed..
I too had a problem with my car when the Diverter Valve failed. I also was told it was fine to drive and that I had to book 1 month later to have the problem rectified. (not the same dealer as you but similar attitude)
I ordered the $100 D.V. and replaced it myself 2 days later.. and now have my car serviced by another dealer.
I hope you get some response from VW.. Good Luck.
