Hi I have the my09 Passat looking for information. Is possible to use the touch screen as a monitor to display data from a laptop or the likes?
I also got the Bluetooth option and it was installed before Christmas. I was a little disappointed as I expected with such a nice touch screen I would have been able to at least have a keypad for the phone on the touch screen. It locks on to the Bluetooth and freezes the radio until I make a call and hang up. I regularly call message bank for no reason to clear this. This might be the Smartphone but I have not had this issue before!? I’m asking is there some settings I am missing or is that it?
Lucky the car is great as the information from the dealers is poor. Despite the conflict in the manual the Radio does except SDHC as large as you can get. No Need for an MP3 player to be kept in the car.
Any advice would be much appreciated.
Welcome Dodge,
You need to find out which model / brand / type of bluetooth has been fitted to your car - there are several types - there is an AUS VW approved Parrot based kit, and there are genuine German kits sold by some of the dealers as well.
If you find that out I will be happy to help you. We have a lot of experience with the German versions, and we use smart phones with them with no issues at all.
Volkswagen Australia has just switched over to the Nokia Blue-Tooth unit. From an installer's view-point, it's a little more time-consuming, but as far as it's capabilities are concerned, it's a great bit of gear.
From memory, and I will have to check up on this, but I believe the keypad is only good for if your phone has rSAP (remote SIM Access Protocol) capability. This should allow you to access your phonebook, via the RCD510.
Previously, they were using the Techaudio/Parrot units, but they were far too unreliable.
Hi Aussie Volks Guy
I believe the system is German as I had to wait 3 months to get it installed and it syncs to the phone on the steering wheel. They said at the time that they are waiting for the arrival from Gernany, I just called and Umai is correct it is a Nokia Blue tooth kit from Essendon VW. My Phone is a Treo 750 Smart phone.
They tell me that you must do everything via the phone no syncing of address books or dialing via the touch screen, bit of a shame if this is the case.
Thank you for your help so far.
No problem,
They should be able to supply you a phone compatibility list specific for your kit,
As Umai Naa!! say's - if its the RSAP style kit, it works completely different to the "UHV low" kit.
If you get stuck, we have compatibility lists for our kits, but it may be different to yours.
There is a list of compatible phones out there for the VW/Nokia kit. I've yet to look for it, but apparently it's up on a few Audi-related forums.
Hi Umai Naa! and Aussie Volks Guy.
I rang VW today and asked them why I can not get Premium Mobile Phone and Phone menu up on my RCD 510 as per pages 51 of manual 3.4 RCD 510. They said my head set ie the touch screen is different then the European models not available in AUstralia.
Is this true???!!!!! Is there an easy flash upgrade that can be done to turn this functionallity on????
It is an expensive option if all it does is answers and hangs up the phone and plays it through the sterio.
From what you guys are saying the information from VW Australia does not seem to be correct.
Hope you guys can help.
really need to know the part number of your blue tooth kit to help you from here!
Aussie Volks Guy
I have no confirmation from the dealer very unhelpful and somewhat don't even know there own products. But on doing some research I am fairly certain all they have installed is a Nokia CK-100 unit.
http://www.nokia.com.au/A41457623
units are under $200.00
So the near $600 dollars for installation for less than an 1 hrs work amazes me!
Hope you can help.
Sorry, I'm no help with that kit,
Hopefully Umai Naa!! might be able to help.
Do you have that blue control pad? or does it have a steering wheel interface?
