    HI all, Thanks for access to the forum.

    I have been volunteered to do some work on my partner's 1973 superbug (I think). Have found a pinhole leak in the brake line that runs in the cabin. Is this a job that can be done at home?

    Hoyhoy.

    Sounds like a replacement hose should do the job, may be a tailor made in this case, then afterwards with a bleed ya should be able to do it yourself.

    yeah, I wouldn't be 'repairing' brake lines, but replacing them. Are you good with a spanner? If not, you can give a mobile company a call who will come and do it at your place...

    Hi jnrdavo, am handy with a spanner and have done brake work before. From what I've read, you can buy replacement metal lines but need a tube-bender to finish? Apparently I'll need to remove the backseat where the line exits the cabin and joins to a 'T' to replace it. I'm thinking that its also probably worth replacing the rubber lines as well and maybe the MC for good measure.

    It seems like a decent size task, would a mobile company do that?

    Hi Eddy,

    It all started because the brakes felt somewhat spongy, so I thought I'd replace the fluid and bleed. Started with the rear right wheel but no fluid was coming out when pressing the pedal Found it was leaking under the drivers floor mat, squirting out of a pin hole in the line, so looking to replace the entire line, just wondering if its something that can be done at home.

    I'm not sure if it would be cheaper getting in mobile company than taking it to a specialist.
    Obviously gibing a few of them a call will give you approx. pricing. I think because you know exactly what you want, somebody should be a ble to give you a fixed price... or do it yourself if you have the time. In most circumstances, you will need to bend the lines somewhere. If only small bend, then you can do by hand, but any serious ones will need the proper bending equipment.
    There are quite a few videos on YouTube on bending the lines.

    Hi all,

    I know its super dodgy, but have tried to just bleed the front brakes and ignore the rear ones for now (the inspection station is only a couple of kilometers away) as rego is up in a few days, seems that even though its dual circuit, the leak seems effect the MC and seem unable to bleed the front brake circuit with the pinhole leak in the rear circuit, is it possible at all or no?

    Fix it would be my answer, with rego inspection they'll do a brake test anyway & even if ya crimped the rear line it would fail the test.

    Yeah, so I have gone ahead and replaced the brake line but I seem to have snookered my self with the peddle assembly. I loosened it so I could make a bit of space to fit the line under it but now it seems the accelerator and cluch peddles have disconnected and I have no idea how to reconnect them, any hints?
