Default Bora V6 4Motion - Gear box wear and oil

    Hi guys,

Just bought my first Bora 4mo, silver with 80K on the clock. loving it so far.
    questions:
    1) has anyone had any gear box problems as a result of crusing along at 2000 rpm (or just less). I had a starlet back in 2000, and i use to drive to work at 60kph in 5th gear and this wore out the bearings in 5th gear. I have noticed that the 4mo cruises well at 2000rpm?

    2) Oil, 5w 30 synthetic is the go right!

    3) appart from VW, who else supplies oil filters?

    4) should i get the gear box and Haldex oil changed at the next service to be sure or just leave it alone?

    Regards,

    Ty

    Congrats - sounds good:

    1: Not to my knowledge

2: Check with the VW list (and manufacturers list)- but yes, on some of these, 5w 30 is fine.

3: Always use OE filters, apart from VW (Although you will find them pretty competitive on price) - German parts importers like Imparts, South Yarra Auto Parts, or of course, your local VW / Audi specialist!

4: Check your service schedule, they do have to be replaced at different intervals, see if it has been done. A special tool is needed for the hadlex filter, so without that, its a little hard to DIY!

    Cheers
