Hi Novaboi - welcome to the forum.

You will really struggle to find a "new" kit for one of these - they have been out of business for some time.

The aircooled versions were replaced in the late 80's / early 90's with a 4cylinder ford power plant, and made it a
"targa" version rather than the "lift roof" version.

The best bet is to buy "Unique Cars" & "Just Cars" magazines & look for a bargain. Remember to look for registration history, as the laws on "kit Cars" has changed a lot since they disappeared, and you may not be able to register one if it does not have history.

A small funny story for you about the "lift roof" - in about 1986 near Tannum Sands in CQ My friend & I were in his Purvis Eureka on the Bruce Highway & we hit an Echidna. - Flatted two tyres & ran off the road into a ditch. The bonnet flew up & trapped the roof down, so we were stuck in the car, in the ditch. Thankfully we had just been to the pub & had a cold carton of XXXX behind the seat (only luggage space) so we managed to stay hydrated until we were rescued by a curious passer by (days before mobile phones!).

    Good luck!

awsome thankyou very much , yeh iv been looking off an on for about a year now seems to be slim picking out there and what ever is out there gets snatched up quicker than a $100 note on the sidewalk lol, but yeh thanks for the info , also done research for rego and so forth on the kit car, in queensland australia it has to comply with crash zones and crumple zones, basicly does the car have enough structual protection if it got t-boned, or if it got rear ended, easy fix is a custom made lower roll cage thats ARD and CAMS aproved ( i built a few cages for suzzie's even done a beach buggy once lol ) apart from that power to weight ratio has to be looked at to plus a few more little niggly things thats an easy fix.

But in the mean time im building up a beach buggy for my brother with abit of custom mix throwin in ( turfed the VW motor and replaced it with a custom engineered LS1 out of a VY SS ) gonna be fun seeing this thing out in the dunes

Sounds like you know most of the rules - which is good - thats why a registered (or previously registered) one is so much less hassle.

Same with the shortened Manx' buggies - I had a couple of nice original oines, but without the rego history, they were almost worthless!

    Good luck with the hunt!
