T5 Multivan and MFD1

Hi All,

My mum has got the new T5 Multivan Highline built 08. However it still has the RNS-MFD1 in it!

My question is:

Can I take the RNS-MFD and put it into my 2003 Mk4 Golf and purchase either an MFD2 or RNS510 and put it in the T5 multivan?

If so where is the best place to buy a MFD2? I'm thinking ebay ... does anyone know where to get Australia maps for it?

Welcome Grimre.

I am pretty sure that all T5's run the communication protocol CAN 1.2, where the RNS510 runs on CAN 2.0.

It is possible to put a CAN Converter in place to make it work.

The RNS1 is very out dated but it should work in the Golf, you may need an adapter to get it to work, but you are on the right track.

The MFD2 is available in Camn 1.2 & 2.0, so be careful if you buy one - make sure you get the correct one!

I'm looking for somewhere to get the T5 van hooked up with the following:

• MFD2
• Reverse Camera
• Reversing Sensor (has beeping, I want voice one!)

Does anyone know anywhere that would be possible?

Thats a tough one - we supply the MFD's & RNS to VW dealers, but the other parts - when not using factory bits - gets a little tricky. A lot of suppliers / installers don't want the burden of warranty on the items. We can do it here in Brisbane, but Sydney will be a little harder.
