Thread: GO-BUS goes low

    Default GO-BUS goes low

    Before:

    After:

I got new suspension in the Bus last week. It wasn't the easiest car to lower...

I purchased a V-Maxx coilover set for the commercial Caddy, as this is the only kit they have.

    Rear:
The commercial caddy uses a single leaf in the rear, where the passenger versions use a double-leaf setup. This was different enough to require modification of the mounting plates at the back. The axle was flipped to sit above the leaf springs, and new shackles are included with 4 height adjustments. The bus is currently set at the 2nd highest position at the rear, with new shocks installed as well.

    Fronts:
The 1.9TDI Caddy uses 55mm front struts (I'm not sure about 1.6). I made this clear to the supplier but unfortunately communication does break down in companies from time to time (I know first hand as I sometimes screw up too...) 50mm front struts were supplied and of course we found out a bit too late. New front struts were dispatched but they only arrived today. Luckily, we had some spare mkV GTI front suspension sitting around, and with a bit of luck they went in and gave me a ride height which I'm very happy with.

The car now rides similar to a mkV Golf GTI. I'm still deciding whether to stick the new front coilovers in, as the car drives so nicely now.

Thanks Guy and Mike Weber for your help!
