Golf VII coming to Paris Motor Show

According to a recent report, the Volkswagen Golf VII will be unveiled at the Paris Motor Show in September.

Will ride on the new MQB platform


Expected to be longer and wider than the current model, the redesigned Golf will ride on the new MQB platform which recently debuted on the Cross Coupe concept.

Our spies have only managed to catch heavily camouflaged prototypes, but the model is expected to have sleeker styling with a steeply-raked windscreen and a lower roofline. There's also word of a sportier cabin with a new instrument panel that is angled towards the driver.

Under the hood, we can expect a variety of petrol and diesel engines. Choices remain a mystery, but the GTI could have an upgraded 2.0-liter four-cylinder that develops 220 hp (164 kW / 223 PS).

In related news, Auto Motor und Sport is reporting the Paris Motor Show will usher in the next-generation Skoda Octavia and Mazda6. We could also see a new Porsche concept, the Opel Junior and BMW's front-wheel drive van.
