Default 2012 Volkswagen Passat Alltrack debuts in Tokyo

Volkswagen has officially unveiled the 2012 Passat Alltrack at the Tokyo Motor Show.

On the styling front, the Alltrack has plastic body cladding, matte chrome accents, an increased ride height and 17-inch alloy wheels.

Inside, the cabin features titan silver trim, faux aluminum pedals and stainless steel door plates. Other goodies include automatic climate control, power windows and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. The boot holds 603 liters (21.3 cubic feet) of luggage, but that can be expanded to 1,731 liters (61.1 cubic feet) when the rear seats are folded down.

Under the hood, four engines are available. The petrol variants are rated at 160 PS (118 kW / 158 hp) and 210 PS (155 kW / 208 hp), while the diesels produce 140 PS (103 kW / 138 hp) and 170 PS (125 kW / 168 hp). Despite the wagon's off-road intentions, all-wheel drive is only standard on Alltracks with the two most powerful engines.
