are you really after something for performance gains, or just sound...
If just sound, then maybe the remus mufflers are all that you need...
Hey guys,
I own a late 2006 VW Golf 2.0 FSI, and would like to pimp it up a bit. I spoke to Dean at Volkspower in Melb about an APR Performance Exhaust System, but he told me that It's a waste of money/time to install them on FSIs. (I'd be looking at +10% power as opposed to 35% for the GTI)
But alas, I make do with what I have...and am determined to find a custom exhaust that'll work with my FSI.
I've been recommended Borla and Shnitzer as manufacturers, but figured I'd ask you guys before I go to random mechanics that might rip me off.
(Went to a mechanic last week who said he can cut my muffler off and extend my cat, for 60$).....ehhhh

Thanks in advance

Thanks for your reply!
At first I was looking into something balancing performance, sound and a reasonable price.
But now I have had so many hassles calling up mechanics, and most of them don't have a clue. So I will settle on sound if I have to, but If I can find something that'll increase performance also (and is within my 1k$ budget) then I will go for that.
It's also hard finding a good trustworthy mechanic that knows VW. If you know anyone in Melbourne that would be sweet also.
Thanks !
