Hi everyone, I've owned three Transporters in the past, most recently an automatic 2002 TDI, which though I enjoyed it, gave me a ton of transmission problems over the five years I owned it. I ultimately got rid of it early this year when the transmission completely packed it in at 162,000 km. Anyway, I'm now starting the search for another Transporter, which I'll be using for leisure and family purposes, not work. I'm seeing a lot of 1.9L Transporter Citivans on the market that are mostly around 2007-2009 models. The 1.9L engine seems kind of small to me for a Transporter-size vehicle. Does anyone have any experience of these vans? Or can anyone offer any advice on how these vans go, for example on a longish road trip where you're out on the highway sitting on 110km/hr for hours on end? Can these vans handle that sort of use every now and then, or are they stricly for low mileage city use (as the name suggests)?
