    Default R32 My08/My09 verdict/ tips?

Hi I am one the hunt for a pre-loved R32 golf, as can't justify kitting out a NEW GolfR at the moment.

Looking at the DSG 5dr hatches, with sunroof and rear park sensors, extra's like Sat nav a bonus, and under 70k km, with svc history and full set of keys.

Anyone know of big items I should be looking for? Besides 60k km dsg svc? Do these have a timing belt due? What other items costs a lot beside DSG box, brakes?

Also what how can you tell the difference between a My06 R32 and My09 R32 besides the 18" wheels on the road?

Lastly does anyone know the cost of a VW extended warranty?

    Thank you

    Out of what I know:
2006 was a fist run, they have old 1/2 MDF screen on dashboard and DSG free from problem (temperature sensor?)
Later models have newer style dashboard and some have DSG mechatronics issues. Get someone with the R and DSG to drive the one you like to buy and comment on gearbox.

No timing belt on those, but chains known to need replacement at 200K, if my memory serves me right. Engines go further than that.

At 70K check front suspension bushing, front transfer case to driveshaft bushing, good owner will also change oil every 5-7K. Driver door lock maybe sticky time to time. Do not worry about brakes and such, they are easily replaced. Just purchase in USA and ship to AU. Or go to Guy @ APR Brisbane and check for performance stock.
Eaarlier 2006 models also have fuel pump issue, it fails. Relatively easy to replace.

Other than that, it's pretty solid car regardless the year.
