Default Converting from rear torsion to coilovers

    Hi there,

I'm building a new custom off-road frame, and I'm interested in using coilovers instead of a rear torsion bar. Looking around on the web, I can see that a modified spring plate conversion kit is required.

Could someone please explain to me in more detail what the modified spring plate conversion kit does. I would have thought that with coilovers, there is no need for any spring plates, as the trailing arms locate the wheels and the coil overs act as the suspension.

Just looking for a better explanation of how it fits together, thanks.

    Welcome Avatar,

Basically it involves keeping the "spring plate" as part of the suspension arm, converting it to a free moving hinge up front. Not much rocket science to it when you break down the components.

Where are you located, might be able to steer you towards the right people to help.
