oh, so, if the previous owner hasnt get the car fixed before (or he doesnt aware of the problem of the DSG mechatronic), and if i have bought it from him, there is no way i can take the car back to VW and request a free of charge fixing over the DSG mechatronic?

so, for the DSG mechatronic, if there is a problem, the gear change would not be smooth (feel like a learner trying to drive a manual as you said.)?
and are the problems mentioned by you appear in the 2005-2008 model only? or still having these problem in the 2009+ model?
sorry for asking so much, but i dont want to waste $25k+ for a lemon car...

If the diverter is blown it'd feel slow, sometimes you'd even hear a whistle as the air escapes through it

there's no guarantees in this situation. VW will probably tell you to go away but if you are firm with them, I have known cases that they have repaired it. This is entirely based on the cases I have seen. Do a search on the web on aussie sites and you may find more info on this

    I don't own a mk5 with DSG so I don't have this issue personally
    Go APR!!

    Thanks Lams
hmm, i will try to pay more attention to the mentioned problems when i test drive any GTi...
    hopefully i would get a good one~
i think there will still be a long way to go before i can become a member of GTi...(not too many GTi on the market at all in WA.)
    anyway, thanks again

Don't forget that if you buy a Mk5 GTI of that age, make sure it has had the timing belt and water pump replaced. Best is a car that has been serviced by a dealer or specialist VW mechanic and yes, the air-con, alternator are weak items
