Thumbs up Took Delivery of my Amarok Trendline last weekend

    Wow!!

It is a pleasure to drive with heaps of room. I have owned hilux's for almost 20 years and after my last (2007 D4D) I lost faith in the old badge and was ready to try something else. The Amarok certainly fills the void after only putting 1000km on the clock. See how it pans out over time, I am off on a 4x4 camping trip next week, see how we go towing the van and the off road 4x4 stuff I have planned, lets see if it is as good as they say it is.

I have optioned this baby with almost everything ARB can supply at the moment, and it looks a treat. Doesn't look like I will be able to get dual batteries or a snorkel as there simply isn't any room under the bonnet and I'm not a fan of this stuff in the back. Will see how the suspension holds up as this is the first vehicle I haven't put a 50mm lift kit and suspension upgrade, they have talked it up....................
and so far it has met my expectations.

I feel like I am sitting behind the wheel of a 100 series cruiser, it certainly has a presence on the road.

I will post some pics for those that are interested

Just came back from the first trip away towing the camper in some soft driving conditions. Handled admirably but did leave me wanting to go and see my aftermarket friends to sort out some suspension upgrades and a few more accessories. Wish they could get a bit more of the gear out there, i guess it takes time with a new vehicle to the market place.

With the ARB gear fitted at the moment, it wants a small lift and suspension upgrade to handle the extra weight from the gear and towing. Car drives well and fuel economy is pretty good pulling 1500kg. Great gear carrying capacity in the back and plenty of room inside for the young family of 5. Planning the next few trips. Off to Fraser Island next month, see how it handles the Island.

ARB make good stuff, very impressed with the finish of the bar and canopy these guys make, hope we can get more gear soon, like - suspension upgrade, roof carriers, snorkel, dual battery system. Some of these will be difficult as a result of the vehicle design. Hope someone comes up with this stuff soon..............

Power of the vehicle was fine, performed better than my recent 07 3L D4D hilux dual cab. Better fuel economy and pulled better with the weight on those steep hills. Still steadied me up, but nothing like the hilux did. Not so sure about chipping, sounds good, but wonder what it does for reducing the life of the engine. This engine is smaller and putting out more power, I wonder how the life of the motor will go compared to the other larger engines?

Happy with it so far, just want to get a few more additions to provide security in the remote areas - snorkel, dual batteries etc. eagerly awaiting advice from the accessory mob

most of the cars here are detuned, so they can take the extra power/torque without issues...

Some of the guys on the forums have had chipped cars for 5+ years and still going strong :-)

my Golf GTI was chipped for 7 years when we sold it
it's one of those things.... you're going to love it from the day you get it, so why not get it sooner?
now all the cars in my family are chipped. except for the aircooled beetle which has a chip of another kind

Looks good, I like the look of the canopy, the bullbar is growing on me slowly, but I do love the way the towing capacity looks!
