    Unhappy Polo Gti reliabilty

I finally picked up my Polo Gti on Friday after waiting 5 months from Sutherland & drove it home to the Illawarra via the National Park. When approaching home we came to a 50 zone on a steep hill & when applying the breaks we lost all engine power which resulted in losing the power steering & the power assist on the breaks & had to stop the car with the handbreak nearly resulting in losing all control of the car & nearly hiting a light pole.
Lucky it was a 50 zone & not a 100 zone.We contacted road side assist which is NRMA & after inspecting the car found no compression so then contacted the dearlership who towed the car back to Sutherland. On the Monday we were told that a new engine was the solution so I contacted VW Care Centre who also advised me that VW duty of care is to replace the engine & thats it.Now I would like to ask is a vehicle that has done 115 kilometres & only being driven for approx 2 hrs & nearly resulted in a major incident that the solution is to replace the engine & everything is peachy.
Last month I also picked up my new Golf GTI Mkvi & its the best car I've driven & couldn't be happier & thought that VW would at the minimum replace the Polo but I guess their duty of care is questionable.

    Wow, thats a bad issue!

Let us know the VW technical details when you get it back from repair.

    Which engine was it?

The 132 kw motor is in the polo & then they tell me that the 1.4 Tsi motor in the golf will be the replacement.Like I said before I'm very disappointed & pissed.

Oops, sorry, I missed the GTI bit.

Thats really disappointing, especially since I picked up my new Polo GTI a couple of weeks ago!

There was certainly a lot of issues with the 118tsi in the Golfs, quite a lot of engine failures that triggered a recall for mostly "software" adjustment.
