Thread: Any kind of upgrades for the B6 3.2 V6 Passat?

Default Any kind of upgrades for the B6 3.2 V6 Passat?

I've asked GIAC and APR about the compatibility of their MKV R32 programs with the B6 Passat 3.2 (same engine I believe) and both said not compatible.

Does anyone know if there are other "off the shelf" programs for the B6 Passat 3.2? I know it's NA and not as much gain as turbo etc, but APRs 15kw and 30nm extra sounded worthwhile

It might just be one of those things that the development companies don't want to spend the time working on something that won't give much gains for a limited market...

Might be best to work on the basics, exhaust, extractors, air intake, then possibly a dyno tune..

I'm pretty sure the Passat engine is an FSI, the R32's not, so pretty maxed out unfortunately

Aahhh that make sense now, I just thought that since they make similar power might be the same [i now know they are different even in the V angel, 15 vs 10.6]

I don't want to go all out with exhaust, extractors etc as it's my missus car, but a chip would have been nice and easy.

Oh well, guess I'll just try on the MKV R32 BMC CDA instead [it's "fitted" to my A3 1.8T now]

    Cheers!

The V6 is nice... very responsive teamed with the DSG
Much better value than the R36!

Yeah I love the sound and the instant response [makes my A3 baby seem laggy now ]

Had issues with the DSG first day I got it, jerky and thumping on takeoff and my heart just sank But brought it back to the dealer the next day and they were quite happy to look at it and yesterday I was told that the transmission control unit [mechatronic unit I assume] would be replaced under warranty! [was one week out of factory warranty and VW picked up the bill] From hindsight, I'm glad it stuffed up now so I don't have to worry about it happening anytime soon.

Driving a TDI loan car till it's done and it's better than I imagined.

I reckon the CDA would make a bigger difference on the NA engine than the turbo, not to mention the better noise [hope the missus doesn't complain about it ]

Digging up an old thread here.

Got talking to some one and found an off the shelf tune (like APRs R32) for the 3.2 FSI from DNA Tuning. Said to give a similar power curve to their R36 tune and a 11KW/27NM gain. Suppose to increase the mid range torque. Might give it a trial to see if it's worth it/noticeable.

Doubt that there'll be many tunes out there for this engine as it is now officially obsolete

Dyno it before & after, that way your cash is safe (if you have a money back guarantee). The AUS versions of these are already highly strung, so we have seen some go backwards in power, not forwards!
