Default Transporter '96 "Knock Sensor Error" VAG-COM reading??

    Hey guys,

just pulled this from my Car, it sounds like its "missing" under load, but get it going and its awesome.

pulled the data and got this:

    Address 01: Engine Labels: 023-906-024.lbl
    Part No: 023 906 024 R
    Component: DIGIFANT 1.72 1887
    VCID: 1C390230A62D

    1 Fault Found:
    00540 - Knock Sensor 2 (G66)
    03-00 - No Signal
    Readiness: N/A

would this cause such an issue?

    hope this works!

"No Signal" pretty much means that. To do another test, unplug the knock sensor from the wiring harness, clear codes & themn read them again. Let us know if it comes up "open circuit" or not.

    awesome, will do.

    thanks for that mate.

now a rookie question, where is the knock sensor :-S

i know there is 2....does the output indicate which one is actually faulty...??

if you can tell me where it is, ill do the unplug/retest tomorrow

QUESTION: my car runs really badly under load, pulling away / up a hill....sounds like its missing. would this be due to the knock sensor?

    thanks again,

    Warren

    No problem warren.

They are normally attached to the front of the block by a single large bolt. will be tucked down well near the radiator. I'm pretty sure bank 1 is closest to the flywheel, so sensor 2 is "probably" furthest from flywheel. but once you find them, you will be able to tell by unplugging them one at a time & checking the fault codes.

    awesome!

    ill have a look tonight!

would the knock sensor be causing the trouble with pulling away/under load where it sounds like its "missing"?

It surely could. Especially with that fault code, its a great place to start trouble shooting.

    It's fixed!!

Dude you are an absolute legend.

Found the two knock sensors, unplugged it, cleaned the terminals up and plugged it back in. Cleared the error codes.

Went for a drive, drove beautifully again!!! Was so good. Re-ran the scan, no codes!

Thanks a heap for your help again mate, really really appreciate it.

No problems, I'm glad it was an easy (not expensive!) issue
