Default Filling Golf VI DSG transmission oil

    Hi!

Does the Golf VI DSG have an auto transmission oil dipstick? If so, where do I find it? If not, how do I fill up the transmission oil?

    Thanks!

Ok, I've heard that the drain plug doubles as a filler port - there's some sort of tube in that port that operates like a valve. If you pull the tube down it's for filling, or draining, (details were sketchy) and if the tube is up it's vice-versa. Also, the transmission oil bottle (genuine VW, very very $$$$) fits straight up into that tube, you squeeze the bottle and the oil goes up. I don't think there is a dip stick.

Can anyone confirm the above?? The details I have are very sketchy, can anyone fill them in? Also, how do you know when the system is full?

    No they dont.
You fill it from underneath using a stand pipe adaptor.

Why do you need to? Is it leaking ?

I'm still a little bit confused, sorry I'm slow!!

Here's a pic of the underside of my car:

So the mechatronic cover (just to the left of #1) had been removed, and all the fluid behind it drained.

Now to refill, I looked underneath and saw #2 before #1. I pulled that out and drained about 1.5 - 2L of oil into a container.

Looking up that #2 hole, it seemed obvious to me that any oil I squirted up there would come straight back out, so I scratched my head for a while and decided I must have pulled the wrong plug, this must be the diff, and the diff must be fill-able from above. But I can't find a fill plug for the diff.

Anyway, I went looking some more for the transmission fill plug, and found #2. I opened that, and it was already drained. This is quite a small hole, so the filling funnel on the top of the oil bottle wouldn't actually fit into it. I'm also a bit skeptical that oil pushed up into that hole wouldn't fall straight back out, but tell me that's the right one and I'll give it a go.

So... what do I do now?

(Oh, and BTW, if I could take it to a mechanic I would!)

    Is it a 6 or 7 speed?

Do a search for dsg refill:
