    Thumbs up Planning Big Trip

Now planning for a big trip south from mid-September. I have a Solo's Rally (up to 250 vans) at Macksville, NSW from 28th Sept to 4th October. (Solos is a part of the CMCA for solo travellers, up to 60% travel solo). Usually a very good rally with lots of fun times and people to meet. After the rally I plan to travel to Tassie for about 2 or so months before heading back north in mid-January. The Caddyshak campervan will be getting a big hit-out (unless I win lotto ). In July I will probably go to the Chillagoe Country Music Festival before heading back to Cairns for my old hockey club 50th anniversary then up to Irvinebank for a smaller solos rally (about 70 vans). Then get ready for the BIG ONE!

Sounds like a good trip - picking the right time of the year to head south!

I spent about 3 weeks driving around tassie (doing some driving, photography and fishing) and loved it...

Only really scratched the surface, would love to go back again.... Make sure you take plenty of wollies, it's COLD down there!

Thanks guys... I hope to be there for about 2 months... will have a mate with his own (larger) van with me. One place in Australia I haven't been to yet, so this may be the last chance...*L* hitting 70 this year...

don't forget the fishing rod... the water's so clear and the place so under populated, you can actually see them taking the bait in some places :-)

sorry... this sounds terrible..for a guy from Cairns... but I am not a fisherman...funny this about this is when I go fishing with friends or family.... I always catch the first fish. It makes them go crazy when I do that!!!. Once upon a time up here.. you used to have to hide behind a tree to bait the hook *L*

Just a question for you all: Do you know of a really good contact cement. I am planning on taking the lining out of the roof..put in some insulation and cover the ceiling and sides (where the holes are) with a nice carpet.

best suggestion is to visit your local motor trimmer - they would have some "pro" strength stuff - a lot of them can not withstand heat & gravity!

well the Tassie part of the big trip is not going to happen now.... my mate has not got his motorhome and even though I don't mind travelling for some time alone, I do enjoy some company when travelling. So, I guess Tassie will have to wait....
