Thread: Mk5 GTI brake upgrade

I'm going with what I had last time.. Redstuff on the front and Greenstuff on the back...
If you put Redstuff on the back you will have brakes that squeel all the time, the back ones don't get enough temp into them to justify Redstuff.
Last time I paid about $400 for front and rear pads.. Not sure what the rotors are costing yet, as long as I stop when I press the pedal I don't realy care.

You will be happy with the Pads, they are very good, once they have bedded in. Let me know how they go.

I have slotted fronts and RedStuff.. no squeeks. Hopefully it will work itself out. Did you bed them in ??

ummm.....it squeek straight after installation....no hard stopping during the past 3weeks....and it still squeeks and starts squeeks around 50km/h until it reaches a full stop....maybe i didn't add the silicon stuff on the back of the pads when you change them....

Correct bedding-in procedure is as follows:

Accelerate to 60 km/h and apply brakes with moderate to firm pressure and slow to 10km/h. Then accelerate back to 60km/h and repeat the process above "8-9" times.

Check a couple of the sections out in the link above if you haven't already.
