Its been only 4 days and i want more! Last saturday, I got the Oettinger tune done (103 to 125) along with a service and new 18" wheels... otherwise its stock 2005 comfortline tdi golf... i do want to do a few cosmetics (rebadging, led head/tailights, window tint, maybe new drivers seat)
the cosmetics have mostly been decided upon, except for the seat...
stupid question time - as I have heated seats (which are the 2nd greatest inventions ever) and i want to retain this functionality - im guessing that my only option would be to buy the seat i wanted, take both my existing one and the new one to an auto upholstery place and get the new one retrimmed... this sounds expensive with a capital very expensive...
so back onto the performance mods, and my 2nd stupid question for the night,
is my lack of a DPF the only thing from stopping me getting the 143kw tune?
is there a non-dpf stage 2 tune?
im thinking of installing a BMC CDA induction kit and am also thinking of either a new exhaust system or a dump pipe - i think ill do the cda kit in the next few weeks, then either dump pipe or exhaust after xmas then the other at next service... im not 100% what the prices are either way really, very few prices online that ive found...
im not after a fart cannon style exhaust but a little bit more note would be nice...
Cheers

pics are coming tomorrow in the daylight - i was gunna wait til after a detail next week but...
its not that there is anything wrong with the seat, i think i just want more of a bucket feel, dont get me wrong, the stock seats are awesome, I've done 16 hour journeys and been fine at the other end and as i said above im addicted to the warmers... I'm just about to clock over 40k kms - if i did a rough avg of 50kph then thats about 800 or so hours of wear... the leg bolster side thingys are getting out of shape now and the padding is just getting my arse groove a little too much :icon_lol:
I wonder if any of the audi seats would fit and have a similar warmer plug - of course not :icon_cry: :3flypigs:
due to the likely excessive expense I'd only do the drivers side... stuff the passengers ;)
i also wouldnt mind a new steering wheel - i would of course like to keep the buttons / airbag but this of course will require a redefinition of the laws of physics :rofl1:

Hi Roj,
Glad you are enjoying your upgrade
Stage "2" won't really exist for your Car - the bigger starting engines (ones that start with the 125kw engine) have a different turbo & fuel system altogether.
A BMC CDA would be a good help. I am not so sure on what to do with your exhaust though & what gains per $$$ you might see.
Same generation Audi seat heaters should be compatible with same gen VW seats. Here in QLD, seat heaters don't get much use!

Bugger about having no stage 2! Perhaps I can be your guinea pig? a few mates are heavily into lancer tuning and alot of their tunes / protocols are open source... is there any equivlent in VW or is it all proprietary information?
Any idea on sources for Audi seats? I've had a bit of a google around but havent found anything good yet...
Perhaps a bigger turbo should be on my list - is there a way to counter the larger spooling / lag time with a bigger turbo short of installing two?
Cheers

Hey Roj,
Generally the Seat boy's forgo Seat heaters when they go to sports seats (you know, harden up like Steve McQueen), So even the cool Recaro's in the S3 & r32 are non heated.
IMHO, if you need to go to a bigger turbo, swap cars - especially on a diesel, buy a faster car! The costs will outrun your development pretty quickly!

I've found some cheapish prices online for a sparco seat that i like... will having the heating wiring loom unplugged throw any errors?
back onto the performance stuff - im going to just stick with the induction and dump pipe for the time being... exhaust will come in the new year...
pics are coming as soon as i find the right usb cable to connect up my camera to the pc...

If you swap seats, you can "recode" the convenience computer to tell it "no seat heaters" - that will stop any annoying lights etc!
